378Beauty and The Beast, A Couples Costume That Is Easy To Create

Often times when a couple is going to a Halloween party, it is difficult to creatively come up with a couple’s costume that hasn’t been overdone at a party.  Disney’s Beauty and The Beast is a popular children’s cartoon and a great idea for a couple’ costume.  Additionally, if you and your husband take the children out on Halloween, these adult costumes are kid appropriate so you can dress up with the children while going trick-or-treating.  So, if you have your heart set on you and your spouse dressing up in Beauty and the Beast costumes, here are some simple ideas to help you reach that goal.

Beauty And The Beast Costumes Can Be Created In An Afternoon

When creating the Beauty and the Beast costume, Belle or Beauty’s costume is something that can be created very easily out of a yellow or beige colored prom dress, of course, the more true to the actual cartoon figure the better but it really is open to personal preference and what is available in the prom dress selection at your local vintage, consignment or resale stores.  Costume wigs are available if you want to have hair that resembles the long curly locks of Belle and costume jewelry should be subtle and elegant.  If you have matching long opera gloves, those would be an elegant addition to the overall appearance of the Belle costume.

The Beast Costume, A Bit More Challenging Than Beauty

For your husband, the beast is an easy costume that will use some of the clothing he already owns.  To create the beast part of the costume, you will need to purchase fake fur, double sided tape, cloth tape, a knit stocking cap, dark cotton work gloves and a rubber wolf or dog nose at your local party store.  Your husband will also need a long sleeve shirt, tie, blue jeans, dark socks or tights and shoes from his own wardrobe.

To make the wolf’s hood, you will cut the fake fur to fit the stocking cap and use the cloth tape to attach the fur to the hood, make sure to cut a hole in the fur piece that would cover the head for your spouse’s head to slip through.  Create small triangular shapes for the ears and attach to the fake fur by way of cloth tape. 

For the wolf’s feet, cut two identical wolf track shapes complete with pointed toes.  Use your spouses shoes to cut the length and then add and inch margin all the way around when cutting out.  Cut a large “X” in the fake fur and punch two shoelace holes in front of the “X”, have your spouse put his foot through the “X” and into his shoe, then lace the shoelaces up through the fake fur and you have just created your husband’s “beast” feet. 

The tail is a simple project, cut a short long piece of fake fur and form it into a tail, attach the sides with the double stick tape and then tape to the backside of your husband’s jeans.  Have your husband put the beast hood on his head, put his rubber nose in place and you have an instant Beast to attend the ball with Belle.

Beauty and the Beast costumes are a wonderful was to showcase a children’s fairy tale and to create a unique couples costume.
