Halloween is a great time of year when people can dress up pretend to be someone or something else.  For many, this is the one holiday each year that they really let go and become someone new and exciting.  For many, it is an acquired taste, tentatively trying a safe costume idea for their first party and with each subsequent party becoming more and more daring in their costume ideas and choices.

There are many very easy costume ideas that can be created out a few things that are lying around the house.  These costumes take a short time to create but will provide a fun evening at the next Halloween party you attend.  If you have been trying to come up with a costume idea for this year’s Halloween event, help is on the way.

The Fortune Teller Costume Idea Is Always A Fun One

A very easy costume idea is the Fortune Teller.  The basics of this costume idea can be completed in under an hour so for a quick costume idea, this would be the one for you.  A long colorful skirt is a necessity, preferably a patchwork quilt pattern or something similar.  Keeping in mind that gypsies were traditionally poor and their clothing would have been sew together from scraps and pieces.  A white blouse, with puffy or long flowing sleeves is best worn with a bright colored vest.  Cover your head with a scarf, tied flat covering your hair and knotted on the side or back of your head.

Accessories Add Believability To The Fortune Tellers Costume

Wear as many bracelets as you can find or borrow.  There are best if they make a clanking or tinkling sound as you move your wrists when telling fortunes.  Lots of necklaces and big hoop earrings add to the quality of the fortune teller’s appearance.

If you have a Magic 8 ball, it makes a great “crystal ball” there is also a new game called Q-20 that provides the same type of game format without the magic eight ball appearance.  You can also create a homemade version of a crystal ball by taking a white Styrofoam ball that can be purchases at any craft store and then spray paint it with a glitter craft paint in a cream or beige color.  The addition of this type of prop makes it fun for you to provide fortunes to other guests.
